How an Abstract Artist Sees the Landscape

When the sky becomes the sea, and the sea becomes a mirror.

I don't paint what I see.
I paint what I feel.

When I look at a landscape, I don't always see a landscape.

Sometimes I see a colour.

Sometimes a movement.

Sometimes a moment of silence.

And sometimes I see a conversation between two elements that have been speaking to each other forever:

the sky and the sea.

Where the Sky Meets the Sea

There is a moment by the ocean when it becomes difficult to tell where the sky ends and the sea begins.

The blue above falls into the blue below.

The clouds become reflections.

The horizon becomes almost invisible.

And for a moment, there is no separation.

Only blue.

Only light.

Only space.

This is one of the moments I love most about the sea.

And it is also one of the reasons I paint it.

I don't try to reproduce the landscape exactly as my eyes see it.

Instead, I allow the landscape to become an emotion.

The sky becomes colour.

The sea becomes movement.

The horizon becomes a feeling of infinity.

And the painting becomes a place where these two worlds meet.

Eyes of the Sky

This is the feeling behind my painting “Eyes of the Sky.”

An original abstract diptych created through fluid acrylic pouring, it explores the quiet, almost eternal dialogue between the sea and the sky.

Deep ultramarine.

Luminous turquoise.

Touches of gold.

Two canvases.

One horizon.

A sky reflected in the sea until it becomes impossible to know which is above and which is below.

Perhaps this is what I love about abstraction.

It allows us to leave the literal landscape behind and enter the feeling of it.

You don't have to see a particular beach.

You don't have to recognize a particular horizon.

You can simply feel the openness.

The calm.

The light.

The endless blue.

A Landscape Through My Eyes

I am especially happy that “Eyes of the Sky” is now part of the international online exhibition “Landscape Through My Eyes” by People & Paintings Gallery.

The exhibition explores the many individual ways artists interpret landscape and nature. Twenty artworks were selected by the Exhibition Curator, and the exhibition runs from September 7–18, 2026.

For me, being part of this exhibition is an opportunity to share something very personal:

A landscape doesn't always have to be recognizable to be felt.

Sometimes the most important part of a landscape is not what we see.

It is what happens inside us when we look at it.

And perhaps that is why I keep returning to the sea.

Because every time I look at it, I discover another sky.

Another reflection.

Another shade of blue.

Another way of feeling free.

When the Sky Comes Home

I believe art can carry a feeling from one place into another.

A painting can take the sea into a city apartment.

It can bring the horizon into an office.

It can create a moment of stillness in a busy room.

And it can remind us of something we already know but sometimes forget:

There is always a little more sky above us than we remember.

And sometimes...

we simply need to stop and look.
